Folk-inspired chamber jazz. Mercury-nominated. Coming home to Beech.
BBC Radio 2 host Jamie Cullum calls her “the kind of musician I want to be in my next life.” On 20 June, Laura Jurd brings her trumpet home to Hampshire for one night, for just 65 of us at Beech Village Hall. Our last gig sold out and left people on a waitlist. Book early.
Music this good, this close, doesn’t come round often.
Laura Jurd with guests Rob Luft and Owen Spafford
Laura Jurd is one of the most distinctive voices in British jazz: Mercury-nominated, Ivor Award-winning and a former BBC New Generation Artist. Raised just one mile up the road in Medstead, she now performs regularly throughout the UK and Europe.
On 20 June she brings her trumpet to Beech and is joined by two guests for an intimate trio performance, drawing on her acclaimed 2025 album Rites & Revelations: On guitar, Rob Luft, 2025 Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year at the Parliamentary Jazz Awards. He’s also a former winner of the Royal Academy of Music’s Kenny Wheeler Prize and a runner-up at the Montreux Jazz Guitar Competition. On violin, Owen Spafford, a highly regarded folk violinist. Expect folk-inspired chamber jazz rooted in musical traditions from across Europe, woven together with Laura’s distinctive compositional voice.
