Today marks the end of the first 3 weeks of our project of 12 weeks, we are 25% done. We had a meeting with Nick Carey-Thomas, our volunteer architect, and Sam Orbell, Flint Construction project manager and we reckon we are actually ahead of schedule…. but… everyday has a a new surprise waiting for us!
We were actually meeting to discuss how we ensure we don’t create a condensation point between our new ‘warm’ flat roof and the older ‘cold’ roof above the entrance door. We believe we have a workable solution!
So just to checkpoint where we are… as per the picture below we have more or less completed the major work of damp proofing, insulation, vapour barriers and first fit electrics…. we still have to leave some things exposed as we are waiting for our building controls inspection but we are ready to start plasterboarding and first fit plumbing next week.

The other big work item that we are ready to start now is roofing….

And yes this is not a picture of the roof, it is a picture of our new entrance area with no windows but it does show the ceiling where we will be installing a new roof light when we do the roof. Doing the roof means adding a thick layer of insulation and then refelting.
