A gift idea for Beech Woodland Warriors!

December 3, 2020

You might have been wondering, “I wish I could find a magical gift?” Well you no longer need wish . . . we have a wonderful gift opportunity for you!

As you know from Nick Sorby’s article in Beech News, following the removal of the diseased ash trees, we will be replanting saplings in our very own Copse in the Recreation Ground. The sapling ‘planting in’ will start in February and will hopefully be done before the end of March – many hands will, of course, cheerfully make for light work.

The magical opportunity is for the saplings to be sponsored by members of our community. There will be 110 saplings, a mixture of Oak, Bird Cherry, Wild Cherry, Small Leaf Lime, Downy Birch, Silver Birch, Sweet Chestnut, Juniper and Walnut to take your pick from! As the years go by, you and your loved ones will be able to watch the saplings grow into beautiful new trees to fill our Copse.

Everyone who makes a donation to support this effort will receive a certificate recognising their  contribution and dedication. In addition, we will produce a Roll of Honour listing all the dedications; this will be displayed in or around the Village Hall. There will be a list of dedications for each species; you will not be associated with a specific tree in case of future loss or damage.

So, please jump right in and choose a legacy gift for a loved one, or perhaps treat yourselves! You will need to take three steps:

  1. Complete this form to select your preferred tree species and who you would like to dedicate it to.
  2. Return the completed form to beechvillagehall@gmail.com or print it and return it to the Village Hall letterbox on the wall to the left of the porch
  3. Make your donation:

Thank you for joining in with this community initiative, which will make a positive impact on our environment.
