PicNic at Anna’s

August 15, 2014 by Ann Bishton

We went for a picnic at Anna’s house and here are some photos, firstly of Anna (centre), Judy and Sue.  Everyone brought their own chairs and picnic and we did have the odd shower.

Phil and Wendy decided to stay put in the rain, sheltering under Anna’s big acer tree, below

Some of us look very refined in the rain – as did Margaret, below

Anna has this magnificent Acer Grisium (paper bark tree) which she grew from a pot.  The bark is amazing, all peeling like a silver birch, and she has to beg her grandchildren not to peel it off. Very tempting for youngsters.

Anna has another acer called Acer Pseudoplatimus and there is a photo of that below, where there is a gallery of other photos of Anna’s garden.  In the paddock at the top of the garden is Ana the horse, who she is looking after for a friend, and five chickens, one called Columba (a Columbian Red) and 4 Heinz 57 hens called Dawn, Dusk, Sunrise and Sunset and they are very entertaining.

Anna also has an Indian Bean tree – we saw one in the Public Gardens in Alton when we went for our Alton Trees walk with the Tree Warden.
