Alton Abbey: Open Garden and Plant Sale

May 9, 2015

AA11The Friends of Alton Abbey are holding a Plant Sale, with the Abbey Open Garden, over the weekend of June 6th & 7th 2015. The gate will open at 12noon on both days, and the gardens close at 5pm, when the Community will be at Evening Prayer. Guests are always welcome to attend services, times below.

Entrance to the gardens is £3 per head.  There will be refreshments available throughout the day in the Reception area, when hot drinks or squash, with a slice of cake, will cost £3.

Cloister garden 1Lace making will be on display, and Jean Eke will be able to give demonstrations, and discuss her very varied work. Jean’s husband, Robert, was Vicar of St Lawrence and St Peter’s so many of you may know her.

There will be Hadeel Fair Trade products imported from Palestine, available to buy without the cost of postage. Do look at their website – items can be ordered in advance,  or on the day if not on the stall. For more information please contact their Hampshire Rep:  Jill Hurley – on 562126 or by e-mail.

There will also be lots of second hand books for sale.

Cloister garden 2In addition your entrance also includes an Organ Recital, at 3pm each day, by Anna Warhurst, a very accomplished organist, whose playing was much enjoyed last year.

Do come and visit the beautiful and peaceful gardens, pick up some beautiful plants, hand crafts, and books, and listen to music.  We look forward to welcoming you.
