Evening with Sue Morris and Alfred Bradley “The ‘real’ A A Milne, 1882-1956”. The interesting thing about Alan Alexander Milne is that he has become remembered for the ‘wrong’ thing. By the 1920s he was very well known as a prolific, talented and successful author of plays, novels, short stories and essays, but what then made him truly famous was a funny, family, silly thing that ‘took off’. Eventually it rather plagued him, and indeed plagued his son Christopher even more. This talk will focus on some of the very enjoyable and diverting (but mostly not ‘Pooh’) things written by Milne, which display his wider strengths. Tickets £15 with wine, soft drinks and light refreshments. Tickets available from “Tickets”, Friends of Alton Abbey, Alton Abbey, Abbey Road, Alton, GU34 4AP Cheques should be made payable to “Friends of Alton Abbey” Please include a SAE, and a telephone number, or an email address. view poster16 09 17 – AA Milne
