What with Covid-19 and Lockdown, I am sure that many of you have had more time to enjoy your garden and notice the birds and other creatures that share your space. For me I have had the pleasure of resurrecting my small 3m x 3m vegetable plot to grow some peas, beans, potatoes and various other edibles which I haven’t had time to nurture for several years. A friend gave me a bird nesting box for Christmas and to my delight it was occupied by a pair of blue tits within a few weeks and I was able to watch them rearing a new generation.
All my talks, teaching, plants fairs, growing plants for garden designers to use at the major shows such as Malvern, Chelsea and Hampton Court have been cancelled for the foreseeable future but I have a lovely collection of plants available this season. Although the nursery is closed I have arranged a couple of tables outside my gates with a selection of plants currently looking at their best for your delectation. Payment can be made either by cash in the honesty box or by phoning my mobile 07909 528191 to get details for a bank transfer. Plants are usually ready on the tables by 9am and I take them back in again around 8pm. I try to change the assortment several times a week and I also have had fun growing some interesting vegetable varieties for you to try. I am sure that you have missed the plant fairs as I have missed seeing you and chatting about our favourite topic of our gardens.
I realise that the emails I have include many of you who are too far for you to visit but I hope that some of you might pop in and find a few treasures to enjoy in your garden this season.
Hoping that you are keeping well and safe during these extraordinary times.
