The cancellation of the Autumn Show, due to lack of interest, is the latest in a string of cancellations that have decimated this year's programme of events, and casts serious doubts on the survival prospects of the club.

We have lost our long serving Social Secretary Sue Bailey, at the AGM in May and have so far been unable to find anyone to take her place. Nevertheless the committee has managed to put together an interesting programme of speakers and events that will see the Club through to July 2008. Efforts are continuing to complete the 2008 programme, but we desperately need a volunteer to take over the Social Secretary's job on a permanent basis.

More importantly, we need to see more interest in the monthly meetings and greater support for the various events, if the club is to continue. We have a strong balance sheet and a nominal membership of over 170, but the turnout for speakers and events struggles to reach 20, and is largely made up of the committee and their partners!

Not an encouraging turnout for the speakers who have made very interesting presentations of their subjects.
