BGs’ visit to Eastbridge Willows again – November 2016

Sheila's beautiful Christmas wreath

Sheila’s beautiful Christmas wreath

The Beech Gardeners set off again in two cars to Crondall to visit Anna Kirsch at the Eastbridge Willows to learn how to weave willow wreaths for Christmas.  There were 9 of us in all and Anna demonstrated how to weave the basic wreath, using green and decorative orange and yellow willow twigs.  We all managed that quite well – different sizes and thicknesses of course.  Anna had baskets full of greenery, mostly evergreen, holly with berries, dangling seed pods, ivy, variegated greenery, shiny coloured baubles, tinsel, ribbons, beads etc etc to wire into our wreaths.  Some even managed to make two wreaths and decorate them.  We had a cup of tea while we worked and one of Anna’s home-made rock cakes – delicious.  We all went home with at least one wreath, fully decorated, and each one completely different.  Below are some photos of the finished efforts –
